It was probably the most interesting cake I have made. It was a replica of our family's farm. Including a combine in the process of harvesting, a tractor attached to an auger, a tractor pulling a grain cart being loaded, 2 grain bins, 2 semitrucks, the shop, Grandpa's pick up and a model A (it was supposed to look like the one that is parked at the farm).
All of the vehiles had toy car wheels, cardboard or paperclips for the undercarriage and fondant (I have been buying Duff's fondant, although it is a little pricey, it is easy to work with and tastes great). The building and grain bins were made out of rice crispy squares and fondant.
This was also the first time that I got to use my new airbrush. I used it for the grass (I didn't do a very good job of keeping it where I wanted it, but at that point I was feeling pretty rushed.)
The cut wheat was shredded wheat cereal, the standing wheat was shredded wheat cereal and crushed captain crunch and the dirt was both of the previous and a coco cereal. The grass was shredded coconut and the grain in the trucks, combine and grain cart was actual grain from one of our family's grain bins.
Most ambitious cake but lots of fun!

Correction, I just realized that we didn't end up using captain crunch, it was really graham crackers!
